We took part in our first "Slow up" event today. They closed up all the roads around lake Morat to cars and everyone and anyone could walk / run / bicycle / roller blade etc. around the lake. Each little village had entertainment and different things to eat.
This was the first time we could really try out the new buggy we bought for Alicia.
Since the ride was 32 km long we can really say we put the buggy to the test (I have to admit I had no idea it was going to be 32km long and once you started there was non turning back!)
We started out at a nice slow pace (Brandon a little faster than the rest of us, he is the little boy in front of Hervé) and the roads weren't very crowded.
As we continued a long, the roads go more and more crowded. 55,000 people took part in the event. There were even parts where we had to walk because there were so many people.
Stopping for a little snack.
It took us about 5 hours to make it around the lake. Brandon and Alicia were very good. Brandon said he would even like to do it again sometime (although when asked what he liked the best he said the ice cream, free balloons and drinks that were handed out).

Maybe Grandma and Grandpa could do the circle with Brandon and Alicia when we are over in May?
Congratulations on your first 'Slow Up day'. It is a terrific accomplishment for all of you. Brandon's best memory of Niagara on the Lake was ice cream too, so we will be sure to have special flavours for his visit! Is anyone's seat a little sore?
Brandon was complaining half way through that his butt was hurting. But after he had an ice cream he forgot all about it. Mine was killing me at the end and I don't think I will get back on a bike for a couple of days.
Congrats for being able to go for that long on the bike. Are you sitting ok now?
